Larry Hans is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter and a practising lawyer. In 2026 he released La Virgen de Nazaret, his debut album: ten songs about the life of Mary that he wrote, sang and produced himself. The record runs in an order that cannot be shuffled, because it is not a compilation but a story, and it holds to an uncommon decision: he never sings as if he were Mary, but always narrates from outside. He lives from the practice of law; music is a parallel body of work.

Larry Hans is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter. He is also a practising lawyer, and that fact explains the album: he lives from the law, not from music, and that allowed him to write La Virgen de Nazaret without the weight of having to succeed commercially. The album's dedication says it plainly: these songs were not born for a stage, they were born to be prayed. The album came out on 31 July 2026, whole and all at once, with no advance singles. Ten songs run in an order that cannot be shuffled, because it is not a compilation but a story: it opens with an apparition in an ordinary house in the middle of the night and ends asking for one last companion. The record opens and closes with the same image, the blue mantle: in the first song She comes down to your house; in the last, he is the one asking to go to Hers. In between fit Joseph falling in love, the Annunciation, the Visitation, the cold of Bethlehem, the wedding at Cana, the Cross, Easter and the everyday prayer. Each song steps inside the scene instead of describing it from outside. One decision holds all ten together and it is the hardest to do: he never sings as if he were Mary. He always narrates in the third person, and lends his voice to only one character, Joseph, in the second track. The same care appears in the theology: traditions that are not dogma are left as tradition, and the Resurrection song was rewritten to say She was the first to believe, not the first to see, respecting that the first to see was Mary Magdalene. Musically, a nylon-string guitar carries the verses, the pre-chorus is always left hanging and the chorus behind it resolves it, and a solo violin signs off every farewell. He signs all ten tracks the same way: written, performed and produced by Larry Hans.

La Virgen de Nazaret is Larry Hans's debut album: ten songs about the life of Mary, released on 31 July 2026. It is not a collection of devotional tracks but an ordered story that opens with a night-time apparition in an ordinary house and ends with a request for the final hour. Between those two points pass Joseph falling in love, the Annunciation, the Visitation, Bethlehem, the wedding at Cana, the Cross and Easter. The album opens and closes with the same image, the blue mantle, and that symmetry is deliberate. It sounds of nylon-string guitar, orchestral arrangements and a solo violin that signs off every ending; each song also brings its own instrumental mark, from soft trumpets to a music box. These songs were not born for a stage: they were born to be prayed. I did not want to write about Mary from above, nor to take Her voice, which would have been beyond me. I wanted to tell what happened the way someone retells something he was told and cares too much about. If one of these lyrics keeps someone company on a hard day, or they sing it with their mother, then it has already done what it came for.
