Lyrics

Verse 1

Pre-chorus

Y mientras Ella tejía, mientras Ella rezaba,
mientras barría la casa o ayudaba a Su madre Ana,
los ángeles del cielo guardaban silencio…
…mirándola pasar…

Chorus

Before the angel, before the story began, there was a girl like any other in a town like any other. She fetched water from the river and sang on the way home. She was young, clear-eyed, with a simple smile. Nobody in that forgotten corner of Galilee knew who she was. The song stops there on purpose: while she wove, prayed, swept the house or helped her mother, the angels of heaven kept their silence. The chorus insists that she already was the chosen one long before the world came to know it.

What it's about
The girl from Galilee fetching water from the river, before the Annunciation.
Its sound signature
A recorder — the pastoral note, the fields of Nazareth.
The trick in the chorus
«Before the world knew You» repeats twice and in the final chorus opens into «before the world knew of Him»: from Her to Him.
Worth knowing
Joachim and Anne appear, Mary's parents according to the Protoevangelium of James — venerated tradition, not dogma. The Immaculate Conception stays implicit, never proclaimed.

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask most about this page. If something is missing, write to the address in the footer.

What is «Antes del Sí» about?

About the girl from Galilee who fetched water from the river and sang on the way home, before the Annunciation. The song deliberately stays in that stretch nobody tells: while She wove, prayed or swept the house, the angels of heaven kept silent.

Why is it called «Antes del Sí» (Before the Yes)?

Because it happens before the «let it be done to me according to your word» of Luke 1:38. The whole album turns on that yes; this song is the only one that looks at what came before, when nobody in that lost corner of Galilee knew who She was.

How long is it and where does it sit on the album?

It runs 5:52 and is track 3 of the 10 on «La Virgen de Nazaret». Its ISRC is QT6FP2692521. It closes the album's first third, just before the double burst of joy of tracks 4 and 5.

What is this song's sonic signature?

A recorder, bringing the pastoral: the fields of Nazareth, the path to the river, village life. It is the instrument that sets this track apart from the rest of the record.

How does the chorus change through the song?

«Antes que el mundo Te conociera» (before the world knew You) repeats twice and at the end opens into «antes que el mundo Lo supiera» (before the world knew Him). The pronoun shifts from Her to Him: the song begins looking at Her and ends pointing to the one who would come through Her.

Who are Joachim and Anne, who appear in the lyric?

Mary's parents according to the Protoevangelium of James. This is venerated tradition, not dogma, and the song treats it as such: they appear in the domestic scene without the track asserting anything the Church does not define.

Does the song speak of the Immaculate Conception?

It is left implicit and never proclaimed. The chorus insists that She was already the chosen one long before the world came to know it, which is the closest the track comes to the dogma without stating it.

Who is this song dedicated to?

To the girls who grow up unnoticed, in villages that do not appear on maps. In the author's words: before heaven chose her, Mary was an ordinary girl singing on the way back from the river; may nobody ever tell you that you are ordinary.

Is it a good song for the feast of the Nativity of Mary?

Yes, it is the album's best fit for 8 September, and also for 8 December and for the Annunciation on 25 March, because it is the only one that looks at Mary's life before the story began.

Where can I listen to «Antes del Sí»?

On Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and the other digital stores, and also in the player on this page. The buttons above lead straight to this track on each platform.

Where can I get the lyric of «Antes del Sí» in print?

On this page, in a PDF sheet ready to print with the whole lyric, a dedication written for this track and the author's signature. It is free, asks for no details and is available in the site's eight languages.

Which album is it on?

On «La Virgen de Nazaret» (2026), Larry Hans's debut album, of which it is track 3. It comes after «Cuando te vi» and before «Madre de Dios», which is where the record moves from intimacy to proclamation.

What biblical passage lies behind it?

None directly: it is the only song on the album that occupies a gap about which the gospels say nothing. That is why it leans on the tradition of Joachim and Anne, and why it is careful not to assert what Scripture does not tell.

Is the lyric translated into other languages?

No. The lyrics are the work and are always read in Spanish. The rest of the page — the explanation, the fact sheet and the printable page — is in the site's eight languages.

Can I use the song in a video?

The recording is under reserved rights, with ISRC QT6FP2692521. To use it in a video, a publication or any derivative work, prior permission must be requested at soy@larryhans.com.
