Adiós, Goodbye, Adiós Goodbye

Larry Hans · Costa Rica

This Saturday, 3 October 2026, three singles by Larry Hans arrived on the digital platforms on the same day, and all three are one song: Adiós, sung in English; Goodbye, sung in Spanish; and Adiós Goodbye, both at once, made to be heard together — Spanish in the left ear and English in the right.

All three tell of the same night in a cantina. A man lies to a bottle — he swears to it that he is better now — asks the waiter for another, tells his story to the man drinking beside him, watches a couple get up to dance and stays until the lights go out. At the centre is the private language of two people who understood each other without explanations: she would say no when she meant yes, and that “no” was the key to everything.

The crossed titles are deliberate: the Spanish version is called Goodbye and the English version is called Adiós, and each one says goodbye in the other’s language. The third undoes the crossing: on headphones, Goodbye plays in the left ear and Adiós in the right, both complete and at the same time. In the stores it is listed as Adiós Goodbye (Headphone Mix).

Putting one language in each ear is not an invention — other artists have done it before — and the artist does not present it as one: it is simply something extra, a third way of hearing the same song. What it does have is craft. So that the two versions would be a single song and not two playing at once, they were rebuilt bar by bar until they shared the same form — 127 bars, with the same opening and the same ending — and a violin that comes in when the two languages say the same thing plays only the notes the two arrangements share.

In his own words

Translated from the Spanish original, reproduced below.

I wrote them on a winter afternoon, remembering what we men so often feel when we love a woman and have to say goodbye.

It is a musical experience conceived with the woman in mind: her enjoyment, and what she deserves to feel when she feels loved, when she feels that saying goodbye to her is not easy…

Statements by the artist gathered for this release on 3 October 2026.

The three versions last the same, seven minutes and eleven seconds, and they are already on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal and the other digital platforms, each with its own music video on the artist’s YouTube channel. Their full lyrics, in the language they are sung in, can be read at larryhans.com.

And on 5 December 2026 comes Mi Jesús, Larry Hans’s second studio album.
