Single VI of 8

The commission
Zarza Radio broadcasts in eight languages and commissioned one track for each. The point was not to do the minimum, but to do everything with excellence: that is why these are eight songs that stand on their own, with the same production and the same mastering as anything else this artist has signed. Zarza Radio.
The closest to the original («suonare» = to sound), and with the record’s best find: it uses passato remoto (sparì, sentì, fuggì, proibì, finì), a literary tense that in a dance song sounds like a solemn declaration — and rhymes with «qui». The joke: the planet becomes «la mia nuova fidanzata»; her call ends in «chiamata rifiutata», the literal message a phone shows when you decline.
The lyrics stay in the language of the track and are not translated: they are the work.
un volo solo andata che non è mai tornato;
Dice che non mi ascolta più, che il capitolo è archiviato;
ha messo la radio in francese... e in francese ho cantato;
spenta, riaccesa... e io non me n'ero andato.
accende radio in giapponese... e il mio sorriso sentì;
a Rio corre in spiaggia e dal beat fuggì,
qualunque tasto prema... la canzone è già iniziata;
questo hit è la mia vergogna: ovunque sia, l'ha beccata;
INTERNAZIONALE! (chi?)
INTERNAZIONALE! (lei!)
nelle tue otto lingue nuove... suono io...
(io... io... qui...)
(DeeJay, DJ, DeeJay!)
Oh-oh-oh-oh! (Zarza!)
Oh-oh-oh-oh! (Radio!)
Oh-oh-oh-oh! (il mondo intero!)
(DeeJay, DJ, DeeJay!)
Hola! Hello! Bonjour! Olá!
Ciao! Hallo! Konnichiwa! Marhaba!
(si dice così «ciao»... in ogni posto dove mi sentirai)
E dove balla il mondo? (QUI!)
E dove balla lei? (QUI!)
E dove suona il mondo? (PROPRIO QUI!)
(lei è sempre stata la più bella...)
QUI... QUI... ZARZA RADIO!
QUI... QUI... Il mondo suona qui!
IL MONDO SUONA QUI! (dove?)
IL MONDO SUONA QUI! (così!)
INTERNAZIONALE! (lei!)
L'ho riconosciuta subito...
E sapete che ho fatto? (Play, Play, Play)
Ho premuto play!
È dedicata, amore mio:
zarza punto com...
il mondo suona qui!
(e tu... lo sapevi già)

It is the record’s best find. The passato remoto (sparì, sentì, fuggì, proibì, finì) is a literary tense, almost solemn, and putting it in a dance song makes it sound like a grave declaration — and it rhymes with “qui”. Nobody writes a club track in passato remoto, which is exactly why it works.
Yes, because “suonare” is literally “to sound”: the title is almost the same. But the inside is not, and that is the charm: the closest language makes the strangest move.
Two. The planet becomes “la mia nuova fidanzata”, his new girlfriend; and her call ends in “chiamata rifiutata”, the literal message a phone shows when you decline a call. Technology writes the ending.
Because it is the Sanremo version: the chorus closes in that shape and the track behaves like a gala. The mouldings and the crimson come from there, not from a catalogue of styles.
Five minutes and thirty-five seconds: the longest of the eight.
